First and foremost, I want to remind you that disease and cancer cannot survive in a healthy environment. So with that being said, if we create a body that has strong defenses, we may be able to avoid having to break news to our families of any illness or disease. Exercise is a big factor in our health as well as everything that we put ON and IN our bodies. IN ADDITION, what we use in our homes makes a difference of whether we are doing the best we can to keep our environment toxic free. We cannot always control what goes on outside our homes, but we can inside.
So this month, I challenge you to 3 tasks. First, lets get rid of the PLASTICS! No plastic storage containers for your foods, no more plastic cups! If you carry with you a plastic bottle for your daily water in-take (which should be about half your body weight in ounces), make sure that it is BPA free. You can find inexpensive alternatives at stores like Wal-Mart, Target, or even Costco!
The second thing I challenge you to do is to try cleaning with simplicity. Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda, and Vinegar are REALLY inexpensive alternatives for cleaning, and are more environmentally safe for adult and children. They have no allergens, and can be used for most of everything that need to be cleaned. Baking soda, for example can be used in place of Comet or Ajax, or as a deodorizer for your carpets before vacuuming. If you spray vinegar and hydrogen peroxide (in separate bottles, never mixed) on your kitchen or bathroom counters (or toilets), this acts as a disinfectant, antibacterial agent. The smell of “clean” should smell like nothing, not like flowers and pine, that’s unnatural. If you find that these are not enough for what you need, look for environmentally safe products, at Walmart, Costco, Publix, Whole Foods etc.. I like Seventh Generation. Along with cleaning your house, you can also clean your clothes with Seventh Generation Laundry detergent, or use baking soda and water to deodorize clothes.
And last but SURELY not least, find a workout program that suits your personality and your schedule. We post lots of short at home workouts on our facebook page. Whatever it is, don’t sit around and take a backseat to your health. Make no excuses! Be better than you were yesterday and look for someone to help you where you are weak. We understand that motivation is key, and we are able to help you with that until your lifestyle change, just becomes your LIFESTYLE because of habit!
